More Start with Art at the Community Campus |
|
Portsmouth, New Hampshire January/February 2002
This project was again about the process, but we were all amazed
at the end products! We created paper cast masks from clay molds, which
we modeled after choosing an emotion to base them on.
The pictures include some of the participants with their masks
which were made in a four weekend workshop at the Community Campus.
These photos are the participants working through the process of
making a clay mold for a paper cast mask. They gave up ownership of
their work to complete the pieces for a group sculptural work which now
hangs in the Families First hallway and the computer room of the
Community Campus.
The groupings of masks are amazing to view and the participants
ranged in age from 2 to 82. It was truly a family affair as well as
intergenerational. Each of the participants gained a greater sense of
self esteem with the work they did as well felt very good about the
final grouping of all the masks.
