My name is John Ouellette and I have been a Strafford resident in Bow Lake Village for over 10 years. I first started working with clay when I was in high school and was very excited and influenced by art teacher Ray LaBranche. I was making small pots and people.
After high school I was drafted and elected to go into the Air Force. While stationed in California I attended Victor Valley College and took courses in sculpture, drawing, painting and pottery. After the Air Force I enrolled in classes at Plymouth State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in art education. While at PSC I took numerous courses in art.
After college I took the position as the art teacher at Strafford and Nottingham Elementary Schools. I worked for Strafford School part time for two years and have been at the Nottingham Elementary School for nineteen years. I have done many art gallery shows and have my work in Australia, England, and all over the United States. |
