Inspired by the titles of Ralph Waldo Emerson's essays, the pieces of the Treeline series have the dreamy effect of walking in the woods on a wintry day with the mist of snow in the air along with your breath, watching winter pass into the promise of Spring.

The pieces in the Treeline series mark my return to painting after a seven year hiatus to raise my two small children. Painting these was a conundrum in many ways because they are based on my photographic work which is itself based on my painterly style of capturing more than what meets the eye in the frame. While they are inspired by images I have seen in my daily practice of meditative rambling, my background in children's literature and illustration has me longing to tell stories.
