Encaustic: Embedded Memories with Jess Greene
Embedded Memories a class in encaustic (hot wax painting) mixed media techniques
It is sometimes said that we are each an individual set of memories and experiences. Perhaps this is an oversimplified way to think about our diversity, but memories are often what define us and are a great source of inspiration and creative energy.
In this introductory workshop Jess Greene will be teaching an overview of encaustic techniques while guiding participants through her process of constructing art pieces based on metaphor and memory.
Together you will explore a variety of encaustic techniques including basic wax management, fusing, incising, stenciling, accretion, and collage. And through using these techniques you will create a painting that communicates part of your journey through life.
No experience is necessary.
Bring: paper collage items that hold some meaning for you ... like a map, napkin, note, etc. If the item is important then photocopy it and bring the copy. If you can't find anything, don't worry. Jess will have paper to use.
